Release rule
Straight through, review window, or flagged orders only.

Some drop orders should never ship. Decide which ones, and when, before the drop goes live.
A popular streetwear drop attracts bots, resellers buying past your limits, fraud attempts and customers who change their minds. Most of the decisions about those orders belong to your store and your team. The warehouse’s job is to not ship an order you were about to cancel. That only works if both sides agree on timing before the drop.
Bot and fraud screening happens in your store. The warehouse respects the result.
| Task | Usually handled by | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Bot protection and queues | Your store platform and its apps | Set up and tested before the drop |
| Purchase limits per customer | Your store platform | Enforced at checkout, not in the warehouse |
| Fraud review | Your store, payment provider or fraud app | Decides which orders are held or cancelled |
| Holding orders for review | Your store, with a rule the 3PL respects | Orders under review should not reach the pick queue |
| Cancelling orders | Your team | Cancel before the order is picked, or agree how late cancellations work |
| Shipping the orders that pass | The 3PL | Picked by scan, packed to your instructions, shipped by the cutoff |
OC3PL does not screen orders for bots or fraud. That decision is yours, made with the tools built for it. What we can do is make sure the orders you release ship quickly and the ones you hold do not.
Orders imported by 12 PM PST ship the same day. That is great for customers and a problem if your team needs a few hours to review drop orders. Decide in advance which of these you want:
Whichever you choose, tell your account manager, write it down, and test it with real orders before the drop. A hold that works in theory and fails on the day ships the orders you meant to stop.
Customers ask to change a size or an address within minutes of ordering. Resellers get cancelled. Some orders get split. Every change is easier before the order is picked.
Review what happened while it is fresh: how many orders were held, how many cancelled, how many changed after release, and how long it took the orders that passed to ship. Feed that into the next drop. See planning a streetwear drop and apparel drop fulfillment.
Returns and exchanges from the drop are handled the same way as always. Returns are processed and logged within 48 hours of receipt, and many are handled the same day. Each item is inspected and restocked, discarded or donated by the rules you set.
Drops bring a wave of address mistakes, duplicate orders and customers who bought the wrong size. When an order syncs to the warehouse system, the address is validated and stock confirmed before it is picked, which catches some problems early. The rest depend on how fast your team flags them.
Give your support team a simple rule for the first hours of a drop: what they can change themselves in the store, and what needs a call to your account manager because the order may already be on the floor.
Settle these with your 3PL a week out.

No. Bot protection, purchase limits and fraud review are handled in your store platform and its apps. We make sure released orders ship quickly and held orders do not.
Yes, if the hold happens in your store before the order reaches the warehouse, or under a rule agreed with your account manager. Agree it in writing and test it before the drop.
The earlier the better: before the order is picked is simplest. Ask how edits and cancellations work and what they cost when you compare 3PL quotes.
Orders imported by 12 PM PST ship the same day, with labor planned from your forecast.
Your account manager, directly. Because they are on site, they can check the order on the floor and act.
Often, if the order has not been packed. Call your account manager as early as possible; the earlier the request, the easier the change.
