Marketplaces measure how you ship. Fulfillment is the score.
On your own storefront, a slow shipment costs you one customer. On a marketplace it costs you placement. Every major marketplace measures sellers on how quickly orders leave, whether tracking is valid, and how often something arrives late — and each one publishes its own thresholds, which change.
Fulfillment controls every one of these.
| Marketplace | Metric | Requirement | Why it bites |
|---|---|---|---|
| Walmart Marketplace | Valid Tracking Rate | 99% or greater | Falling short can bring selling restrictions, suspension or termination. |
| Walmart Marketplace | On-Time Delivery | 90% or higher | One of seven monitored metrics, alongside cancellation rate and item-not-received rate. |
| eBay | Transaction defect rate | 2% or less for Above Standard, 0.5% for Top Rated | Evaluated on the 20th of each month; status changes on the 1st. |
| eBay | Tracking uploaded and carrier-validated | 95% of transactions, within handling time, for Top Rated | Uploading a number is not enough — the carrier has to validate it. |
| eBay | Late shipments | No more than 5, or 3%, for Top Rated | A high rate alone will not drop you to Below Standard, but it costs Top Rated. |
| Etsy | On-time shipping | 80% to meet the standard, 95% with tracking for Star Seller | Measured against the processing time you set on each listing. |

Already on ShipStation? Connect it and every channel you have mapped there flows to OC3PL immediately, with no per-channel setup.
Yes. OC3PL connects directly to eBay, Walmart Marketplace, Etsy and TikTok Shop alongside Amazon, and runs ShipStation as a hub for any channel that cannot be mapped directly. Running several channels from one inventory pool is the point, so ask how stock gets allocated across marketplaces before you split inventory between separate systems.
Direct connections to the warehouse management system are live the same business day. Connections routed through the ShipStation hub take two to three business days. Connecting requires one thing from you — an API key or a one-click app install — and OC3PL handles mapping, SKU matching, test orders and go-live.
A working integration creates a single source of truth for orders and inventory rather than separate counts per channel. Orders from every marketplace land in one warehouse system, units are deducted as they ship, and the new level is pushed back out to every connected channel. That is what prevents the overselling that triggers marketplace cancellations.
The detail behind this, in OC3PL’s own guides.
eBay Top Rated needs a 0.5% defect rate, tracking uploaded within handling time and carrier-validated on 95% of transactions, and no more than 3% late shipments. All three are fulfillment.
Connecting Walmart Marketplace to a 3PL: Developer Portal credentials, orders into the warehouse system, and the tracking discipline Walmart’s 99% valid tracking rate demands.
Star Seller needs 95% of orders shipped on time with tracking — against the 80% needed to merely meet the standard. What that gap means operationally.
What happens between an eBay sale and a delivered parcel: OAuth connection, orders in the warehouse system, carrier handoff, and tracking pushed back to the listing.
Etsy builds the ship-by date from the processing time you set on each listing. Why most shops set it defensively long, what that costs, and how fulfillment lets you shorten it honestly.
