Walmart Marketplace Fulfillment

Walmart measures seven things. Fulfillment decides most of them.

Walmart Is the Strictest of the Big Marketplaces

Walmart requires valid tracking on 99% of shipments and on-time delivery on 90%, and falling short of the tracking standard can bring selling restrictions, suspension or termination. That is a narrower margin than eBay or Etsy allows, and it is not a target — it is the floor.

    The seven metrics Walmart watches:

  • Valid Tracking Rate and On-Time Delivery

The two fulfillment does most directly. 99% and 90% respectively, as published in September 2026.
  • Cancellation Rate

Driven almost entirely by overselling, which is an inventory-sync problem before it is a customer-service one.
  • Item Not Received Rate

Usually a carrier-handoff or address-quality issue rather than a lost parcel.
  • Return Rate, Response Rate, Negative Feedback

The remaining three, where fulfillment quality shows up indirectly through damage, accuracy and packaging.

Connecting Walmart Marketplace

Credentials come from the Walmart Developer Portal. The rest is ours.

  • What you do

Generate a client ID and secret in the Walmart Developer Portal and pass them over. That is the whole ask.

  • What OC3PL does

Mapping, SKU matching, test orders and go-live, connecting directly to the warehouse management system.

  • How long it takes

Live the same business day for a direct connection.

  • What protects the 99%

Tracking is pushed back as soon as the parcel moves, and a scheduled carrier handoff is what turns a label into a valid, scanned tracking number.

Walmart Marketplace Questions

As published by Walmart and checked in September 2026: a Valid Tracking Rate of 99% or greater and On-Time Delivery of 90% or higher. Walmart also monitors cancellation rate, seller response rate, return rate, item-not-received rate and negative feedback rate. Failing the tracking standard can result in selling restrictions, suspension or termination.

Valid tracking is a physical event, not a data-entry one: the number has to be real and the carrier has to scan the parcel. A consistent scheduled carrier handoff is what sustains the rate, which is why it is a warehouse process rather than a software setting. Tracking is pushed back to Walmart as soon as the parcel moves.
